A lone sailboat rests on the still waters of Fairfield Lake in Western North Carolina. With a stately view of Bald Rock Mountain as a backdrop, Fairfield Lake evokes a sense of peace and tranquility. The old Fairfield Inn, built in 1896, once sat upon a grassy knoll, overlooking this lake. Today, it is a part of the Sapphire Valley resort.
