The National Champion Bald Cypress tree is located in the Cat Island National Wildlife Refuge north of St. Francisville, La. The nearly 1,500-year-old tree is 96 feet high, has a diameter of 17 feet and a circumference of 56 feet. It is largest tree of any species in the United States east of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
