Swamp Base started operations in 2013 when 140 scouts signed up to for high adventure paddle trips through the Atchafalaya Basin. Hawkins and Pierce have great plans for Swamp Base and are planning constructing a site which will feature a welcome center with wildlife and cultural exhibits, a theater and an outfitter’s shop. The site will also include a K-12 educational center, a university research center, dormitories and a conference center for public and private groups.
