  • The Longleaf Vista Recreational area offers great views of the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness Area. The Interpretive Longleaf Vista Trail starts near the pavilion and   makes a 1.5 mile loop through a wide variety of forest settings.

  • The first stop during the SouthWings aerial tour of Coastal Louisiana is a view of the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal-Lake Borgne Surge Barrier. After Hurricane Katrina the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Corps built the $1.2 billion, 1.8 mile long Surge Barrier to protect New Orleans from storm surge. During Hurricane Katrina, water funneled through this area known as the Golden Triangle, the confluence of MRGO and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. Founded in 1996, SouthWings is a non-profit conservation organization which provides pilots who volunteer flight time to help educate and promote conservation efforts in the Southeast.
