  • The Pentagon Barracks is a complex of buildings located at State Capitol Drive at River Road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the grounds of the state capitol. The site has been used by the Spanish, French, British, Confederate States Army, and United States Army and was part of the short-lived Republic of West Florida. During its use as a military post the site has been visited by such notable figures as Lafayette, Robert E. Lee, George Custer, Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln.

For over 50-years Dr. Jack and Pat Holden have researched and collected historical artifacts of 18th and 19th century Louisiana. The extensive collection resides on 110 acres in Pointe Coupee Parish with two main houses:  Maison Chenal, a circa 1790 West Indies style Louisiana Creole house and the Nicholas LaCour House, built in the mid-1700’s.

  • Marva Coleman, ordained minister, retiree and now master gardener, is transforming a recently acquired lot at 460 E. McKinley St. into a place where plants and flowers grow. The garden will be christened early next year and will be named in honor of Coleman's late daughter, Aveia Anderson, who was murdered in 2009.
