  • The Pentagon Barracks is a complex of buildings located at State Capitol Drive at River Road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the grounds of the state capitol. The site has been used by the Spanish, French, British, Confederate States Army, and United States Army and was part of the short-lived Republic of West Florida. During its use as a military post the site has been visited by such notable figures as Lafayette, Robert E. Lee, George Custer, Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln.

  • Frogmore Plantation is both a modern day cotton farm and a historic site representing life on a cotton farm in the 1800's. Part of the plantation tour includes a visit of a Smithsonian quality 1884 Munger steam gin. Listed on the National Register, this pre-civil war building houses rare Munger equipment.

  • The Louisiana State Capitol, a 34-story, 450-foot Alabama limestone-clad skyscraper, is an excellent example of a greatly simplified classicism with Art Deco details that were in vogue for monumental buildings in the late 1920s.

  • The new 48,316 square foot River Center Branch Library overlooks North Boulevard Town Square in Baton Rouge, La. The first-floor welcome area has a large mural of a historic view of the Mississippi River as it passes Baton Rouge. The mural dates from 1944 and was published by the Army Corp of Engineers; drawn by Howard Fisk. The welcome area includes a laptop bar and public computers.
